Begonia ‘Glowing Embers’ reigns supreme at the HTA National Plant Show

Begonia - new plant

Begonia ‘Glowing Embers’ from Allensmore Nurseries has been crowned the ‘best in show’ at the New Plant Awards at the HTA National Plant Show, taking place today and tomorrow at Stoneleigh Park Coventry.

Sponsored by ProVar the awards attracted over 50 entries and were judged by an expert panel of five consisting of: David Clark, Graham Rice, Kate Lowe, Caroline Owen and David Gilchrist.

Member of the judging panel David Gilchrist comments, “It was good to see such a healthy number of entries for this first show. The overall standard was extremely high and we should congratulate all those endeavouring to introduce plants to appeal to garden centre customers.”

Chair of judges David Clark adds, “With such fantastic leaf detail and vivid orange flowers Begonia ‘Glowing Embers’ stood out as a great impulse buy plant. This versatile repeat flowering plant can be used in hanging baskets and containers and will no doubt have wide appeal to gardeners.”
